LOBBYING EMAIL FOR DORLIN ROAD APPLICATION

20/01211/PPP - Residential Development at Dorlin Road - Response to Planning Appeal

The councillors on the planning committee will meet on Thursday 19 August at 10am. This is the stage       before the final appeal decision is made on the site at Dorlin Road.

The councillors will vote on the report 'Response to Planning Appeal' for Dorlin Road. It asks that they approve the Response recommendation that Miller Homes appeal should be dismissed.

This is an important stage and you can help by sending a lobbying email to the councillors on the             planning committee asking them to:

'Please approve the Planning Services comments in the Response to Planning Appeal, for submission       to the Scottish Ministers, that Miller Homes appeal should be dismissed'.

You can copy and paste the list of the councillors’ email addresses below and send your email by WEDNESDAY 18 AUGUST. It might take a few minutes but will be worth it.

You can view the planning committee meeting on North Lanarkshire Council Youtube Channel.

NOW is the time to make representation to this Appeal by Miller Homes who want planning permission to build 300 houses on the greenbelt site at Dorlin Road, Cardowan, Stepps.   The numbers seeking dismissal of this appeal will be very important for Stepps. It would be great if you can share this with friends, family and neighbours. Here are bullet points to use. You can also add your own.

*****

Miller Homes Ltd: Appeal PPA-320-2151: The site to the south of Dorlin Road, Cardowan, Stepps, G33 6AP.

I seek dismissal of Appeal PPA-320-2151 by the Reporter. I take issue with Miller Homes’ arguments in their appeal statement. These contradict and dispute both the current North Lanarkshire Council Local Development Plan and Proposed Plan Examination Report which state that:

  • the site is located within land designated as greenbelt.

  • the site makes a positive contribution to the function of the greenbelt in this locality.

  • the site is not allocated for housing development by North Lanarkshire Council.

  • there is no necessity to identify additional land for housing in this area.

  • North Lanarkshire Council has a sufficient supply of effective five-year housing land available to meet the housing land requirement.

  • there is no shortfall in North Lanarkshire Council sites for housing land.

  • the North Lanarkshire Council Proposed Plan need not be altered.
